Company Newsletter - September 2010
Here is the latest Company Newsletter to the cast, issued by the Committee:
Treasure Hunt
Following the popularity of our previous treasure hunt, we have organised another for Saturday 25 September starting at 2.30pm from the Red Lion pub in Earlswood. Entry fee is £20 per car or £5 per person if there are less than 4 people in a car. If you would like to take part but don’t have a car, please speak to Jeanette White and we will try to include you in a car which isn’t full. When you register and pay your entry fee, you will be allocated a start time and you will need to arrive at the start point 10 to 15 minutes before that. You must appoint a driver who has a full driving licence and insurance.
There is no time limit but we estimate 1 to 1.5 hours dependent on how quickly you answer the questions. The treasure hunt will be marked on the number of questions answered correctly. It is not against the clock!
When you have completed the Treasure Hunt, we will all meet back in the Red Lion for a social get-together and a well-earned drink (non-alcoholic for the drivers?). If you would like to eat there, they have a great menu.
If you would like to enter, please contact Jeanette on 0121 681 6893 or 07970 600239 asap.
The Wedding Singer
15 to 20 November. Our autumn show is a musical comedy based on the hugely successful film of the same name starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The stage version is equally brilliant and with lots of original '80s-style music.
Robbie Hart is a popular master of ceremonies at weddings - “The Wedding Singer” - until his fiance dumps him. He lashes out at other people's happiness but his bitterness melts away when he meets a warm-hearted waitress called Julia. This is a touching story with laughter and tears along the way but a really happy ending. Rehearsals are well under way and we offer a warm welcome to the new members who have joined the cast; hope you all have a great show.
Ticket sales provide by far the majority of our income so it is vital for the future of our society that we do everything we can to sell tickets for The Wedding Singer. Please help!
Remember that “Friends” can get a £2 reduction by ordering their tickets via Betty Keyte.

NODA
Our Noda rep,
Margery Carmichael, has had to step down after suffering a minor stroke. We
welcome Joyce Eyre, whom some of you will know, as our new Rep.
Pat Hyams and Tony Derbyshire have also retired.
Cycling Challenge
Following up our report in the April Newsletter, Gill and Mike Nevin are training hard for their 380km cycle ride around Jamaica in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care. They can now cycle to Stratford and back via a 70 km country route (with the help of their new secret weapon - Padded Pants!)
