2018 Production - HAIRSPRAY
We are excited to announce that, following FIDDLER ON THE ROOF in 2017, our 2018 production will be HAIRSPRAY.
Baltimore comes to the Midlands! We will be staging the Solihull première of the fabulous HAIRSPRAY. Set in 1962, plump teenager Tracy Turnblad dreams of being able to dance on The Corny Collins Show on TV. When she wins a place on the show, Tracy goes from social outcast to overnight celebrity but decides that it's not fair that the black kids only get to dance on the show once a month and can't mix with the white kids. With her new-found power and amazing array of friends, she sets out for equality and to racially integrate the show for everyone! This multi-Tony award-winning show is big, bold and full of inspiration, dreams and good fun. Influenced by the pop, rock and soul of 1960s, the musical score is full of catchy, bright numbers such as Good Morning Baltimore, The Nicest Kids in Town, (It's) Hairspray and You Can't Stop the Beat.
